This 6 minute video offers an evaluation of ‘sponsor a child’ programs, based on a few studies that have been done. While more research should be done, and not all sponsorship programs are equally good, the current research suggests that sponsorship does have a positive benefit to those who are sponsored. It raises their self-esteem (in Christian terms, their sense of value as God’s children) and their aspirations (in Christian terms, their sense of hope and purpose).
